Central heating system with traditional boiler and domestic hot water production with storage

The central heating system essentially consists of:

  • Traditional or condensing boiler
  • Multi-function hydraulic separator with deaerator and magnetic dirt separator
  • High efficiency tandem circulation pumps
  • Three-way regulating valve with climatic controller
  • Tank for the production and storage of domestic hot water
  • Control, expansion and safety equipment
  • System charging unit with pressure reducing valve and backflow preventer

This solution is generally used in refurbished legacy systems with thermostatic valves installed on the individual radiators.
The boiler should feature set point regulation, with a temperature that can be utilised in both heating and domestic hot water production.
On the contrary, the temperature of the water outlet to the radiators must be regulated on the specific controller, on the basis of the outside compensated temperature curve.
The deaerator (inside the separator) serves to eliminate air pockets and micro-bubbles from the system water. This means it helps to reduce phenomena of corrosion and noise of the thermostatic valves.
The dirt separator with magnet (inside the separator) intercepts and removes dirt particles normally suspended in the water of heating systems. In particular, the magnet is designed to intercept particles of magnetite, thus preventing them from collecting (and causing serious damage as a result) on the magnetic rotors of the new high-efficiency pumps.
The domestic hot water production temperature should be adjusted using the thermostat for the relevant tank: a thermostat which is used to activate and deactivate circulation of the heating medium.
If necessary, or if required by current legislation, the system must be equipped with a specific treatment system for both the heating system and the domestic water to be heated, in relation to water hardness and projected consumption rates.

Note:
The control, expansion and safety equipment must be of appropriate size to reflect the heating capacity and specific characteristics of the system, in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.
