Reducing Valve 5350..H

Date

Controlling the pressure of water supplied by the mains system is essential to guarantee the operation of domestic water distribution systems. Water is actually delivered by high-pressure public networks capable of satisfying all the demands made by various users.
This distribution pressure is often subject to huge fluctuations as a result of the variability of consumption, and this can cause serious problems if it is not kept under control.

For optimal regulation and stabilisation, automatic pressure reducing valves are used to regulate the outlet pressure to predetermined optimal values and keep it stable in spite of variations in the conditions at the inlet.

Pressure reducing valve action is based on the balance between two opposing forces:
1-    The thrust of the spring towards the opening of the obturator;
2-    The pushing force of the diaphragm towards the closure of the obturator.
When a draw-off outlet is opened on the water system, the force of the spring becomes greater than that of the diaphragm; the obturator moves downwards opening the valve to the flow of water.
The greater the demand for water, the lower the pressure under the diaphragm, with a resulting greater flow of water through the valve.
Caleffi 5350..H pressure reducing valves are specifically designed to carry out this delicate task while guaranteeing high standards in terms of precision and efficiency.
This series of reducing valves is equipped with a compensated seat, i.e. a special compensation piston with the same surface area as the obturator, which makes it possible to keep the setting pressure value constant regardless of any fluctuations in the upstream pressure.
The special cross-section of the passage zone between the seat and obturator seal makes for stable behaviour in relation to upstream pressure fluctuations and operation with high flow rates, with reduced noise levels caused by the passage of water.
The zone exposed to upstream pressure is constructed so that it can even operate at high pressure.
The insertion of anti-extrusion rings on the compensating piston allows the valve to work continuously at upstream pressures up to 16 bar.
To improve regulation precision when the downstream conditions change, a specially-shaped diaphragm has been adopted; this feature also extends the life of the valve, as the diaphragm is better able to withstand sudden pressure fluctuations.
These details, adopted when developing this product range, together with the high-quality materials used, make the 5350..H pressure reducing valves a high-performance product, offering precise regulation and silent operation - a detail which should not be undervalued when installing the component inside a residential unit.
