The new composite component production plant in Gattico is now fully operative.
This plant produces all the composite components used in Caleffi products.
The new industrial warehouse, located alongside the existing one, has enough space for 42 moulding machines (27 already installed, 3 more by the end of July) covering an area of 5000 square metres, demonstrating Caleffi's strong belief in investing in this type of components, which has gained a stronger foothold in the market in recent years due to its lower costs in comparison with the brass equivalent.
The new plant is equipped with the best systems for minimal environmental impact, confirming the company's increasing commitment to environmental protection and conservation:
- underfloor heating systems offering instant energy savings;
- shed roof allowing more efficient exploitation of light;
- expelled air heat recovery system (in winter).
As far as production systems are concerned, the expansion includes specific moulding solutions (underground channels for the supply of liquid coolant, power, compressed air, etc.) in order to optimise floor space, workspace ergonomics for operators and ease of maintenance for the systems themselves. In general, all the systems adopted can easily be expanded to support any further increase in manufacturing activity.
In terms of logistics, the plant was designed to be compatible with any future implementation of LGV trolleys similar to those already used at the existing site, gantry cranes for handling moulds, automatic box storage systems for finished components and 2 silos for storing plastic granules, all aimed at creating a more organised and efficient working environment.
