Pressco S.p.A.Hot pressing and mechanical processing of brass components
Pressco S.p.A. is the Caleffi Group company dedicated to the hot pressing and mechanical processing of brass components. It is located in Invorio, in the region of Novara, 50 km from Milan, approximately 70 km from the Swiss border.
The pressing department consists of 21 presses ranging from 200 to 800 t, capable of producing items weighing between 40 g and 6 kg, and seven automised shearing platforms (with robot and vision system). Customers are offered a variety of surface finishes: black, buffed, polished and sandblasted with various degrees of roughness. Annealing and stress relieving heat treatments are carried out according to all applicable regulations; certificates of dezincification and metallographic analysis are issued on request.
In recent years we have been fully utilizing the experience gained in the mechanical processing departments at Caleffi, the company heading the Group, marketing ourselves not only as a supplier of pressed products, but also as a supplier of custom-made components. This is due to the fact that we can rely on a transfer department with flexible, high-productivity machines featuring rotating vices, track-fitted reclining heads and a large number of processing units, assisted by loading robots; all this allows us to satisfy the most diverse and sophisticated processing requirements.
Pressco also has a department which specializes in the production of caps (nuts) with various surface finishes and galvanic treatments: nickel-plating, chrome-plating, etc.
Quality guarantee
In line with the philosophy of the Group to which it belongs, Pressco views quality as much more than a simple target; in fact, it has become the underlying theme in the development and optimization of our productive processes.
For this reason - and in addition to the traditional dimensional and destructive checking systems implemented - in recent years our own Quality Department has been using a machine (operating on the liquid penetrant principle) to conduct non-destructive checks, as well as an optical machine for three-dimensional measurement.
A specialized technical office analyzes Customer requirements while we carry out specific research, creating the necessary equipment in-house using CATIA as a threedimensional system for CAD/CAM development activities. This guarantees project confidentiality, responsiveness in terms of problem-solving and punctual delivery of the completed project.
All production-related, technical, accounting and sales activities are managed using the SAP IT system, implemented by the company in 2006.
It is also worth noting that Pressco demonstrates a constant awareness of environmental issues, which resulted in the creation of a smoke suction system in 2005. This system ensures maximum emissions are five times lower than the limits specified in current legislation.
